AI Invoice Anomaly Detection Engineer

About the role

Document routing and exception handling already form the backbone of our claims and invoice automation product, but we've never had a dedicated model for catching anomalous invoices before they get routed for payment. You'll build that model, working within a cross-functional squad that has defined sprints and weekly syncs with the automation product lead. The goal is simple: flag invoices that look off — duplicate amounts, unusual vendors, mismatched line items — before a human even opens the ticket.

Responsibilities

  • Build anomaly detection models for invoice and payment data
  • Integrate anomaly scores into the existing document routing pipeline
  • Tune detection thresholds to minimize false positives for finance teams
  • Work with Airflow to schedule recurring model retraining
  • Report detection performance metrics in weekly squad syncs

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with anomaly detection or fraud modeling
  • Strong Python and SQL skills
  • Experience with scikit-learn or similar modeling libraries
  • Comfortable working with financial or invoice data
  • Familiarity with Airflow or similar orchestration tools a plus
