AI Invoice Dispute Resolution Automation Developer

About the role

Nortex Solutions handles document workflow automation for insurance carriers, healthcare networks, and enterprise procurement teams. Invoice dispute resolution is a high-volume, high-cost process — each disputed invoice requires document review, PO matching, approval routing, and correspondence drafting. It takes 8-14 days on average and often involves 3-4 people. We're cutting that to under 2 days. In this role, you'll build the LLM-powered dispute resolution workflow that automatically categorizes dispute types, extracts supporting evidence from invoice and PO documents, drafts response correspondence, and routes complex cases to the right human specialist. You'll work closely with operations managers at our clients to validate that automated outputs meet their resolution standards. This is a hybrid role (2 days/week in our NYC office) because client onboarding sessions are best done in person. The rest of the time is remote. You'll work in a structured sprint team with a product manager, a QA engineer, and a senior integration architect.

Responsibilities

  • Build LLM-powered dispute categorization and evidence extraction pipelines for invoice documents
  • Develop automated correspondence drafting for standard dispute resolution responses
  • Implement routing logic for complex cases requiring human specialist review
  • Own the FastAPI service layer that integrates with client document management systems
  • Validate automated outputs against resolution quality standards with client operations teams

Requirements

  • 3+ years software or ML engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with LLM pipelines (LangChain or similar)
  • Strong Python and SQL skills
  • Familiarity with document understanding or invoice processing
  • Ability to work with non-technical client stakeholders during onboarding
