AI Knowledge Base Retrieval Engineer

About the role

As a fully async team spread across nine time zones, we believe great engineers can build great retrieval systems without ever sharing a timezone with their teammates. The problem we're solving is simple to state and hard to solve well: our compliance analysts waste hours searching scattered internal documents for answers our systems should surface instantly. You'll build the retrieval-augmented generation layer that fixes that, using LangChain and Hugging Face models tuned for our regulatory domain. You'll join a cross-functional squad with defined sprints and clear ownership of the retrieval stack from ingestion to answer quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain a RAG pipeline over internal compliance documents
  • Fine-tune retrieval and ranking using Hugging Face models
  • Integrate LangChain-based orchestration with our OpenAI API usage
  • Continuously evaluate and improve answer accuracy and grounding
  • Partner with compliance analysts to validate output quality

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with NLP or retrieval systems in production
  • Hands-on experience with LangChain, RAG architectures, and Hugging Face
  • Familiarity with OpenAI API integration patterns
  • Strong Python engineering skills
  • Comfortable working async across time zones
