About the role

PyTorch and large point cloud datasets are the core of what we build at Prixel Labs. If you've worked on neural compression and care about the tradeoff between file size and reconstruction fidelity, this engagement is worth a look. Our clients are shipping LiDAR-heavy applications where raw point cloud data is becoming a real bandwidth and storage bottleneck. You'll design a neural compression approach that keeps geometric detail where it matters and compresses aggressively where it doesn't. This is a freelance engagement scoped around delivering a working compression prototype and a technical report, with our research team available for feedback throughout.

Responsibilities

  • Design a neural compression approach for LiDAR point cloud data
  • Benchmark compression ratio against reconstruction fidelity tradeoffs
  • Deliver a working prototype and technical report by the end of the engagement
  • Collaborate with the research team on evaluation methodology
  • Document the approach for potential internal continuation

Requirements

  • Strong PyTorch and computer vision experience, ideally with point cloud data
  • Background in neural compression or related representation learning
  • Docker experience for delivering a runnable prototype
  • Available for a defined-scope freelance engagement
  • Research publication experience a plus
