About the role

Retailers deciding where to open the next store need more than foot traffic data. They need AI that combines demographic trends, competitor proximity, transit accessibility, local spending patterns, and seasonal population shifts into a single site score that predicts revenue potential with quantifiable confidence. As a junior location intelligence analyst, you'll help build and maintain the scoring models: collecting and cleaning location data from public and commercial sources, running feature engineering on geographic datasets, validating model predictions against actual store performance, and creating the visualization dashboards that real estate teams use during site selection meetings. Location intelligence sits at the intersection of geography and data science. You'll learn how physical location shapes business outcomes — why one corner of a block outperforms the other, why proximity to specific competitors helps some brands and hurts others, and how to quantify these effects with data.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and clean location data from public and commercial geographic sources
  • Run feature engineering on demographic, transit, and competitor proximity datasets
  • Validate site scoring predictions against actual store performance data
  • Build visualization dashboards for real estate site selection meetings
  • Assist senior analysts with model improvement and new feature development

Requirements

  • Python and SQL proficiency for geographic data analysis
  • Basic understanding of statistics and regression modeling
  • Tableau or mapping visualization experience
  • Interest in geography, urban planning, or retail analytics
  • Attention to detail for data cleaning and validation
