AI Maritime Sanctions Evasion Pattern Analyst

Ryan Kovacs

Full-time · Job · London

About the role

Banks, commodity traders and insurers rely on our intelligence feeds to know whether a vessel or counterparty is helping move sanctioned cargo. Evasion tactics keep changing: AIS transponders go dark, ships meet mid-ocean for transfers, and ownership is hidden behind layers of shell companies. Our existing rules catch the obvious cases. In this role you'll combine vessel movement data, corporate registry records and news reporting to find patterns rules miss, and translate them into explainable risk signals. Clients act on these signals in compliance decisions, so every alert must be defensible.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze vessel tracking and ownership data to detect evasion behaviours
  • Develop explainable risk scores and indicators for client alerts
  • Use NLP on news and registry text to enrich vessel and company profiles
  • Brief client compliance teams on new typologies and model changes

Requirements

  • Significant experience in sanctions, trade compliance or maritime intelligence analysis
  • Strong Python, pandas and SQL skills
  • Experience building statistical or ML-based risk indicators
  • Able to write clear, defensible analytic reports

Benefits

  • Hybrid: three days in our London office
  • Salary negotiable based on expertise
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Private healthcare
