AI Marketplace Optimization Lead

About the role

Two-sided marketplaces fail when supply and demand don't match. Too many sellers in one category and they all starve. Too few in another and buyers leave. Our optimization platform dynamically balances marketplace health — adjusting search ranking, commission structures, and seller incentives based on real-time supply-demand signals. You'll lead the optimization engine: demand forecasting per category, dynamic pricing recommendations, seller acquisition targeting based on supply gaps, and the simulation framework that predicts how marketplace interventions ripple through the ecosystem before they're deployed. Marketplace optimization is game theory in production. Every intervention changes participant behavior. Subsidizing one seller category shifts attention away from another. You'll model these second-order effects and design interventions that improve overall marketplace health, not just individual metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of marketplace supply-demand balancing algorithms
  • Build demand forecasting models per category for proactive inventory management
  • Design simulation frameworks predicting intervention effects on marketplace dynamics
  • Develop dynamic pricing and commission optimization recommendations
  • Model second-order behavioral effects of marketplace interventions

Requirements

  • 5+ years in data science with marketplace or pricing optimization experience
  • Strong PyTorch and scikit-learn skills for forecasting and simulation
  • Deep understanding of marketplace dynamics and incentive design
  • Statistical expertise for causal inference and experiment design
  • Experience presenting optimization strategies to business leadership
