About the role

Being spread across four continents means we ship based on what the data shows, not who's loudest. What we already have is a strong discovery feed and seller matching system — buyers generally find relevant sellers once they start browsing. What's missing is search itself: when a buyer types a specific query, relevance ranking hasn't kept pace with how much richer our discovery feed has become, and search conversion lags noticeably behind feed-driven conversion. Your role is to close that gap, rebuilding search relevance ranking to draw on the same signals our discovery feed already uses, so buyers get consistent quality whether they browse or search.

Responsibilities

  • Rebuild search relevance ranking using existing discovery feed signals
  • Close the conversion gap between search and feed-driven discovery
  • Partner asynchronously with the discovery feed team on shared ranking features
  • A/B test ranking changes against conversion and query abandonment metrics
  • Document ranking decisions clearly for a globally distributed team

Requirements

  • Experience with search ranking or recommender systems in production
  • Strong Python and Spark skills for large-scale ranking pipelines
  • Comfortable with statistics for A/B test analysis
  • Strong async communication skills across time zones
