AI Metrics Definition Governance Engineer

About the role

Two dashboards in our embedded analytics product can show "active users" and mean two completely different things, and it's our support team who ends up explaining the discrepancy to a confused client. We already have strong dashboard-building tools; what we don't have is a single source of truth for what each metric actually means across teams and client instances. You'll own this feature within a cross-functional squad that runs two-week sprints, syncs weekly with product leadership, and has clear ownership boundaries between reporting, data modeling, and the natural language layer.

Responsibilities

  • Build a metrics catalog that defines every metric consistently across dashboards
  • Detect and flag conflicting metric definitions across client instances
  • Partner with the analytics team to migrate dashboards onto shared definitions
  • Maintain governance rules within Tableau and Power BI dashboards
  • Run weekly syncs with product leadership on feature progress

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with SQL and BI tooling
  • Experience with Tableau or Power BI in a production setting
  • Comfortable auditing and reconciling conflicting data definitions
  • Able to communicate clearly with non-technical executives
  • Pandas or similar experience for data manipulation
