AI Model Fine-tuning Lead

About the role

We serve 100 enterprise clients, and each one needs a model that understands their specific domain, terminology, and content policies. Off-the-shelf models get us 70% of the way. Fine-tuning gets us to 95%. You'll own that last 25%. As fine-tuning lead, you'll build and manage the fine-tuning infrastructure: automated training pipelines, data preparation workflows, evaluation benchmarks per client, and the deployment system that serves 100 client-specific models simultaneously. You'll also define the methodology — when to fine-tune vs. prompt engineer, which base models to use, and how to evaluate whether fine-tuning was worth it. This is a strategic technical role. You'll make the decisions that determine whether our platform can serve 100 clients profitably or whether fine-tuning costs eat our margins.

Responsibilities

  • Build automated fine-tuning pipelines for 100+ client-specific models
  • Design evaluation frameworks measuring fine-tuning ROI per client
  • Define methodology for when to fine-tune vs prompt engineer
  • Manage multi-tenant model serving infrastructure for client-specific models
  • Mentor engineers on fine-tuning best practices and efficiency techniques

Requirements

  • 5+ years in ML engineering with extensive fine-tuning experience
  • Deep PyTorch and Hugging Face expertise
  • Experience with LoRA, QLoRA, and parameter-efficient fine-tuning at scale
  • Kubernetes and Docker skills for multi-tenant model serving
  • Track record of building fine-tuning infrastructure for multiple clients
