AI On-Call Handoff Continuity Engineer

About the role

Our incident response and runbook automation tools already help on-call engineers resolve issues faster once they're paged, but the handoff between shifts is still a five-minute verbal summary that loses context constantly. The next engineer on call often re-discovers things the previous one already ruled out. This role builds a service that automatically compiles shift handoff context from incident history, open alerts, and recent changes into a single briefing the incoming engineer can trust.

Responsibilities

  • Build automated shift handoff briefings from incident and alert history
  • Surface open issues and recent changes relevant to the incoming engineer
  • Work with on-call teams to refine what context actually gets used
  • Maintain the briefing pipeline as incident tooling evolves

Requirements

  • Some experience building internal tools or automation services
  • Comfortable with Python, SQL, and basic API development
  • Interest in incident response or SRE workflows
  • Ability to translate on-call engineer feedback into product changes
