About the role

Clinical trials succeed or fail based on patient selection. Enroll the wrong cohort and the drug looks ineffective — not because it doesn't work, but because the patients weren't right for it. Our platform uses electronic health record data to identify optimal patient cohorts for clinical trials, reducing enrollment time by 40% and improving trial success rates. You'll build the cohort identification models: matching trial eligibility criteria against EHR data at scale, predicting patient likelihood to complete the trial, estimating treatment response probability based on clinical history, and generating the cohort composition reports that pharma sponsors review before committing to a trial site. Healthcare data is uniquely messy — diagnoses coded differently across hospitals, lab values in different units, medication histories with gaps and inconsistencies. You'll spend as much time harmonizing data as analyzing it, and the quality of your cohort predictions depends directly on how well you handle that messiness.

Responsibilities

  • Build patient cohort identification models matching EHR data to trial criteria
  • Predict patient trial completion likelihood and treatment response probability
  • Harmonize clinical data across hospitals with inconsistent coding standards
  • Generate cohort composition reports for pharma sponsor review
  • Validate cohort predictions against historical trial enrollment outcomes

Requirements

  • 3+ years in clinical data science or healthcare analytics
  • Strong Python and R skills for statistical modeling
  • SQL proficiency for querying large EHR databases
  • Understanding of clinical trial design and patient eligibility criteria
  • Experience with medical coding systems (ICD, CPT, SNOMED)
