About the role

Payment routing sounds simple until you realize there are 14 different processors, each with different fees, approval rates, currency support, and downtime patterns. Our AI optimizes which processor handles each transaction — saving our e-commerce clients an average of 2.3% on processing costs and improving approval rates by 4%. You'll work on the routing intelligence: building ML models that predict processor approval probability per transaction, optimizing for cost while maintaining approval rate targets, and adapting in real-time when a processor degrades. The system processes 50,000 transactions per hour and every decision happens in under 100ms. This role blends ML engineering with payments domain knowledge. You'll learn the payments world fast — we'll teach you — but you need to bring strong ML fundamentals and a comfort with real-time systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build ML models predicting processor approval probability per transaction
  • Design cost optimization algorithms across 14 payment processors
  • Implement real-time routing adaptations for processor degradation events
  • Analyze routing performance and present savings reports to clients
  • Own the evaluation framework for routing accuracy and cost impact

Requirements

  • 3+ years in ML engineering or data science
  • Strong scikit-learn and Python skills
  • Experience with real-time prediction systems
  • SQL proficiency for transaction data analysis
  • Interest in fintech or payments (domain experience a plus, not required)
