About the role

Our clients include mid-sized payroll providers who cannot afford a single misfiled state tax form. This role builds verification checks that run before each filing batch goes out — catching mismatched jurisdiction codes, stale withholding rates, and duplicate employer IDs before they become a client's problem. You'll inherit an existing airflow pipeline and be responsible for expanding rule coverage as new states and edge cases surface.

Responsibilities

  • Build pre-filing verification checks for payroll tax batches
  • Expand jurisdiction and withholding rate rule coverage over time
  • Maintain the airflow pipeline feeding verification jobs
  • Investigate root causes of filing exceptions flagged by ops

Requirements

  • Experience with etl pipelines and airflow in production
  • Strong sql for reconciling multi-state tax data
  • Familiarity with snowflake or similar warehouse platforms
  • Payroll or tax compliance domain exposure a plus, not required
