About the role

Have you ever wanted your work to directly protect academic integrity for students who never see the systems working behind the scenes? Our mission is to make personalized learning tools trustworthy for both students and teachers, and detecting subtle plagiarism patterns is core to that trust. This role builds the model that goes beyond simple text matching to catch paraphrased or AI-assisted plagiarism across student submissions. The impact lands directly on teachers who currently rely on gut instinct, and on honest students whose work deserves to be judged fairly.

Fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Build models detecting paraphrased and AI-assisted plagiarism
  • Reduce false positive rates that unfairly flag honest students
  • Evaluate detection accuracy against known plagiarism cases
  • Collaborate with teachers on interpretable flagging reports
  • Monitor model fairness across writing styles and languages

Requirements

  • 3+ years in NLP or text similarity systems
  • Experience with Hugging Face and embedding-based retrieval
  • Understanding of fairness concerns in academic tooling
  • Strong Python skills
  • Comfortable working with sensitive student data
