About the role

The models you'll help ship affect where an ad lands in thousands of podcast episodes every week. Insert an ad mid-sentence and listeners skip it — and complain. This role works on detecting natural pause points and topic transitions in episode audio so ad breaks feel intentional rather than jarring. You'll join a small team owning this pipeline end to end, with a senior engineer reviewing your work closely as you ramp up.

Responsibilities

  • Detect natural pause points and topic transitions in episode audio
  • Support the team building the ad insertion scheduling pipeline
  • Monitor listener skip-rate signals tied to ad placement quality
  • Learn the kafka-based event pipeline powering ad delivery

Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience with python and audio or signal processing
  • Some exposure to flask services and docker deployment
  • Interest in audio content or podcast ad tech
  • Comfortable working two days a week from our office
