AI Policy Violation Early Warning Developer

About the role

Compliance violations don't happen overnight. They follow patterns: a series of policy exceptions that gradually escalate, communication patterns that shift from transparent to evasive, or transaction patterns that slowly drift outside approved parameters. By the time a formal violation occurs, warning signs have been visible in the data for months. Our early warning system monitors internal communications, transaction data, and policy exception logs for patterns that precede violations. You'll build the pattern recognition pipeline: extracting behavioral signals from structured and unstructured data, learning temporal sequences that historically preceded violations, and scoring ongoing patterns against those learned sequences to generate risk alerts. The compliance intelligence team is five engineers. You'll own the behavioral pattern extraction module, working between the data integration team that ingests client data and the risk scoring team that translates your extracted patterns into actionable alerts for compliance officers.

Responsibilities

  • Build behavioral pattern extraction from communications and transaction data
  • Learn temporal sequences that precede policy violations
  • Score ongoing patterns against historical violation precursors
  • Design features capturing gradual escalation and evasive behavior shifts
  • Validate early warning accuracy against known violation case histories
  • Handle sensitive data with appropriate security and privacy controls

Requirements

  • 3+ years in NLP or behavioral analytics with anomaly detection experience
  • Experience with temporal pattern recognition or sequence modeling
  • Strong Python skills with LLM and text analysis frameworks
  • Understanding of compliance workflows and policy violation dynamics
  • Discretion for handling sensitive organizational data
