AI Predictive Quality Control Developer

About the role

Manufacturing defects are expensive. A batch of faulty parts discovered after assembly costs 10x more to fix than a defect caught on the production line, and 100x more than a defect prevented entirely. Our predictive quality control platform analyzes sensor data from manufacturing equipment in real time — vibration, temperature, pressure, power draw — to predict which machines are drifting toward out-of-spec production before the first bad part drops. You'll join the ML team as a junior developer, working on the models that classify machine health states and predict quality degradation. The team will teach you the domain; your job is to code reliably, ask good questions, and build things that run in production without requiring constant attention. The stack is Python, scikit-learn for classical models, and AWS for deployment. We don't over-engineer: if a random forest achieves 94% accuracy and a neural network achieves 95% at 10x the complexity, we ship the random forest.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain machine health classification models from sensor time series data
  • Implement feature engineering pipelines from raw sensor streams
  • Write tests for model training and evaluation pipelines
  • Monitor model performance dashboards and flag degradation to senior engineers
  • Maintain deployment infrastructure on AWS for production model serving
  • Document model features and training procedures as the library grows

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development with scikit-learn or similar ML libraries
  • Basic understanding of time series data and feature engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with SQL for data extraction and analysis
  • Comfort working in a production engineering environment
  • Interest in manufacturing, IoT, or industrial AI applications
