AI Privacy Impact Assessment Automation Developer

About the role

Privacy Impact Assessments are required by GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and most enterprise data governance frameworks whenever a new system processes personal data. In practice, they're produced by teams filling out questionnaires manually, reviewed by privacy counsel, and filed in a document repository where they're never touched again until the next audit. The process takes weeks, produces inconsistent results, and doesn't scale. We serve 80 enterprise privacy and compliance teams. PIA automation is the most valuable workflow we haven't built yet: taking a proposed system description, automatically identifying the personal data categories processed, mapping applicable regulatory requirements, assessing risk factors, and generating a draft PIA document that privacy counsel reviews and finalizes rather than creating from scratch. You'll design and build this automation: NLP extraction of data processing activities from system specifications, regulatory requirement mapping for the applicable jurisdictions, risk factor analysis from the processing context, and structured PIA document generation. The output needs to be accurate enough that privacy counsel trusts the draft as a starting point, not so automated that counsel is signing off on documents they haven't reviewed.

Responsibilities

  • Build personal data category extraction from system specification documents and data flow diagrams
  • Implement regulatory requirement mapping identifying applicable GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA obligations
  • Design risk factor analysis assessing processing activities against privacy risk frameworks
  • Generate structured PIA draft documents ready for privacy counsel review and finalization
  • Create accuracy evaluation using privacy counsel assessment of generated draft quality
  • Build PIA tracking system monitoring assessment completion status and revalidation schedules

Requirements

  • 6+ years in software engineering with privacy engineering or compliance automation experience
  • Understanding of GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and privacy impact assessment methodology
  • Strong Python and LLM-based document generation skills
  • Experience building structured document generation from regulatory frameworks
  • Ability to collaborate with legal and compliance stakeholders on accuracy requirements
