AI Production Line Changeover Analyst

About the role

Every time one of our manufacturing clients switches a production line from one product variant to another, defect rates spike for the first few hours until the line settles in. Our inspection systems already catch the defects, but nobody has quantified how much changeover timing itself costs in scrap. We need an analyst to mine changeover event logs against defect and yield data to figure out which transition patterns are riskiest, then hand plant managers a clear recommendation on changeover sequencing. You'll join a small hardware-adjacent team of four engineers who ship fast and don't like meetings that could've been a message.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze changeover event logs against defect and yield data
  • Identify which product transition sequences drive the most scrap
  • Build reporting that plant managers can act on without a data background
  • Partner with the computer vision team to pull relevant defect timestamps
  • Validate findings on-site against actual line behavior

Requirements

  • 3+ years in manufacturing analytics or industrial data analysis
  • Strong Python and SQL skills for log-based analysis
  • Statistics background for sequence and transition analysis
  • Comfortable working with noisy, real-world industrial data
  • Background in manufacturing or industrial IoT is a plus
