About the role

We believe AI should work for everyone, not just big tech, and our tools are used by nonprofits and local government offices trying to make civic processes more transparent. Glyph Systems already helps cities process open data and public records requests, but city council and planning meetings still produce hours of unsearchable audio that residents never have time to review. This freelance engagement is scoped to build a first version of a transcript summarization tool for one pilot city partner, working a few days a week on-site at our small civic tech office to collaborate closely with our two-person product team.

Responsibilities

  • Build a summarization pipeline for public meeting transcripts
  • Use RAG techniques to make summaries searchable and citation-linked
  • Pilot the tool with one city partner and gather resident feedback
  • Iterate on summary quality based on civic staff review
  • Document the pipeline for potential expansion to other cities

Requirements

  • Experience with Hugging Face and LangChain for summarization tasks
  • Interest in civic tech or public sector applications
  • Available to work on-site a few days per week
  • Comfort with a defined-scope freelance engagement
  • 0-2 years experience welcome
