AI Public Records Redaction Engineer

About the role

We believe public records requests shouldn't take county clerks three weeks to fulfill because every document has to be manually redacted for personal information first. You'll build the redaction pipeline that identifies and masks sensitive information — names, addresses, case numbers tied to minors — across scanned and digital documents, with a FastAPI service that clerks' offices call directly from their existing case management tools. Accuracy matters enormously here: a missed redaction is a real privacy violation, so every model change goes through a manual audit before it ships to production.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the automated redaction pipeline for public records documents
  • Own the FastAPI service that integrates redaction into county case management tools
  • Run manual audits on every model change before production release
  • Work with county compliance officers to define redaction accuracy requirements

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Hugging Face NER and text classification models
  • Solid FastAPI or comparable Python web framework experience
  • Comfort working in a compliance-heavy, high-accuracy environment
  • Willingness to work on-site initially with a path to hybrid over time
