AI Radiology Screening Developer

About the role

Radiologists read 50-100 cases per day, and fatigue-related errors increase throughout their shift. Our screening system pre-reads imaging studies and flags cases that need urgent attention — a potential pneumothorax on a chest X-ray, a suspicious mass on a CT scan — so radiologists see critical cases first instead of in random queue order. You'll develop and validate the screening models: training detection networks on multi-institutional imaging datasets, handling the extreme class imbalance where 95% of studies are normal, building the confidence calibration system that determines which AI flags are reliable enough to change read priority, and running the clinical validation studies that regulators require for FDA clearance. Medical AI has the highest accuracy bar in the industry. A missed finding can delay critical treatment. A false positive can trigger unnecessary procedures. You'll work with radiologists who define clinical requirements and with regulatory specialists who guide the FDA submission process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop screening models detecting urgent findings on chest X-ray and CT
  • Handle extreme class imbalance in medical imaging datasets
  • Build confidence calibration determining AI flag reliability for priority changes
  • Run clinical validation studies supporting FDA regulatory submissions
  • Collaborate with radiologists on clinical requirement definition and feedback

Requirements

  • 5+ years in medical imaging or computer vision with clinical deployment
  • Strong PyTorch skills for detection and classification models
  • Experience with FDA regulatory requirements for AI/ML medical devices
  • Understanding of radiology workflows and clinical imaging standards
  • Track record shipping medical AI with clinical validation evidence
