About the role

We believe AI should work for everyone, not just big tech, and our tools are used by nonprofits and public land trusts planning reforestation projects. Choosing where to plant is currently done through manual site visits and rough soil maps, which slows down projects that need to move fast. You'll build a model that scores candidate sites for reforestation suitability using satellite imagery, soil data, and historical planting outcomes, working from our on-site lab alongside our conservation science team.

Responsibilities

  • Build a suitability scoring model for reforestation sites using satellite imagery
  • Combine soil, elevation, and historical planting outcome data into the model
  • Support conservation scientists in validating site recommendations
  • Create simple maps and reports for nonprofit partners

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience with computer vision or geospatial data analysis
  • Familiarity with PyTorch for image-based modeling
  • Interest in environmental and conservation applications of AI
  • Willingness to work on-site with the conservation science team
