About the role

Legal agreements reference regulations by name. When the regulation changes, every agreement that references it may need amendment — but manually tracking which contracts are affected by which regulatory updates is a legal operations nightmare. Our platform automates that process: monitoring regulatory sources, detecting material changes, and flagging which clauses in which contracts are likely impacted. The NLP problem is harder than it sounds. A 12-word change to a GDPR recital might have cascading implications across 400 data processing agreements; a 3-page amendment to an industry standard might be irrelevant to all of them. The model needs to understand contractual cross-references and map them to regulatory change semantics. You'll build the change detection and impact assessment pipeline: the regulatory monitoring layer, the semantic diff engine that identifies what actually changed, and the clause-to-regulation mapping model that determines which contracts are affected.

Responsibilities

  • Build regulatory monitoring pipelines for EU AI Act and SOC 2 requirements
  • Develop semantic diff engine identifying material versus cosmetic regulatory changes
  • Implement clause-to-regulation mapping models for impact assessment
  • Design the contract impact report generation for legal operations teams
  • Create evaluation benchmarks using historical regulatory change events
  • Collaborate with legal domain experts to validate impact assessment accuracy

Requirements

  • 3+ years in NLP engineering with legal, compliance, or document analysis experience
  • Experience with semantic similarity, document comparison, or change detection systems
  • Proficiency with Hugging Face or LangChain for text analysis tasks
  • Strong Python and API development skills
  • Ability to engage with legal domain concepts without formal legal training
