AI Regulatory Filing Comparison Analyst

About the role

When a company files an amended 10-K with the SEC, lawyers need to know exactly what changed from the previous filing — not just which sections were edited, but the legal significance of each change. A rewording of a risk factor might be cosmetic, or it might signal a material change in the company's risk profile. The difference matters enormously for investors, regulators, and litigation. Our filing comparison tool performs semantic diff on regulatory documents: identifying changes, classifying their significance, and generating plain-language summaries explaining what each change means. You'll build the comparison pipeline that goes beyond text diff — understanding when restructured paragraphs mean the same thing, when subtle word changes have major legal implications, and when an apparently new section is actually content moved from elsewhere. This is a 6-month freelance engagement. You'll work with our legal domain expert who defines significance categories and validates comparison outputs against attorney-reviewed analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Build semantic comparison pipelines for regulatory filings
  • Classify change significance beyond surface-level text differences
  • Detect content restructuring versus substantive changes
  • Generate plain-language summaries of material changes
  • Validate comparison outputs against attorney-reviewed analyses
  • Handle diverse filing formats: 10-K, 10-Q, proxy statements, prospectuses

Requirements

  • 3+ years in NLP with document comparison or legal text experience
  • Experience with long-document analysis and semantic similarity
  • Strong Python skills with LLM orchestration frameworks
  • Understanding of corporate disclosure and regulatory filing structure
  • Ability to work independently with defined deliverables
