About the role

AI regulations are being drafted, debated, and enacted in 40+ countries simultaneously. A compliance officer at a multinational company needs to track which regulations apply to their products, what stage each regulation is at (proposed, committee review, enacted, enforced), and what the timeline looks like. Currently, they read 15 regulatory newsletters and still miss things. Our horizon scanning dashboard consolidates regulatory intelligence into a single view: which regulations are relevant to each client, what changed this week, what's coming in the next 90 days, and what actions they need to take. You'll build the data pipelines and dashboard backend that power this view. The regulatory intelligence team is four people. You'll start with the dashboard backend — building the APIs that serve regulatory status data to the frontend, computing timeline projections from legislative process data, and generating weekly change summaries. Your senior teammate handles the NLP analysis of regulatory texts; you handle the structured data pipeline that makes the analysis useful.

Responsibilities

  • Build API endpoints serving regulatory status and timeline data
  • Compute legislative timeline projections from process stage data
  • Generate weekly change summaries for client notification
  • Implement filtering logic matching regulations to client product profiles
  • Maintain regulatory status data across 40+ jurisdictions
  • Support the frontend team with data formatting and pagination

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python backend development experience
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and REST API design
  • Basic understanding of data pipeline concepts
  • Interest in regulatory technology and public policy
  • Clear written communication for regulatory summaries
