AI Retail Stockout Prevention Engineer

About the role

We're building forecasting tools that keep grocery shelves stocked without over-ordering perishables. Halvex Data sits between retailers and their suppliers, turning point-of-sale data into next-week order recommendations. Fast-moving team. Big problem. We need someone who ships. In this role you'll build the models that flag SKUs likely to stock out in the next 72 hours, using store-level POS data and supplier lead times, then get those alerts in front of store managers before it's too late. Ship a model, watch it prevent real stockouts within a week — that's the loop here, and it repeats constantly.

Responsibilities

  • Build short-horizon stockout risk models from POS and inventory data
  • Turn model outputs into store manager alerts via Power BI dashboards
  • Clean and validate supplier lead time data across multiple retail chains
  • Run weekly accuracy checks against actual stockout events
  • Support senior engineers on model retraining pipelines

Requirements

  • Solid Python and SQL fundamentals
  • Comfort working with pandas and numpy on messy retail data
  • Interest in forecasting or time series problems
  • Power BI or similar dashboarding experience a plus
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience welcome
