About the role

Screen readers turn visual interfaces into audio, but they describe what elements are — 'button, image, link' — not what they do or why they matter. Our AI layer adds semantic understanding: generating natural language descriptions of interface purpose, summarizing page structure for efficient navigation, and providing context-aware help for complex interactive components. This part-time role (20h/week) focuses on evaluation: testing AI-generated interface descriptions with screen reader users, measuring description quality against accessibility standards, building test suites for common UI patterns, and documenting failure cases where AI descriptions confuse rather than clarify. Accessibility work rewards empathy and precision. A wrong description doesn't just confuse — it blocks someone from completing a task. You'll develop an understanding of how assistive technology users navigate the web, and that perspective will make you a better engineer regardless of where your career goes.

Responsibilities

  • Test AI-generated interface descriptions with screen reader user feedback
  • Measure description quality against WCAG accessibility standards
  • Build evaluation test suites for common UI pattern descriptions
  • Document failure cases where AI descriptions cause user confusion
  • Recommend improvements to description generation based on user testing

Requirements
