About the role

Video game studios produce thousands of audio assets per title — footsteps on 20 surface types, weapon impacts at varying distances, ambient environments for every biome. Creating these variations manually takes months. Our AI generates procedural sound variations from a single reference sample, producing hundreds of believable variants in hours. This 8-month contract focuses on the automation pipeline: taking designer-created reference sounds, analyzing their spectral characteristics, generating parametric variations, and delivering them in formats that integrate directly into game audio middleware like Wwise and FMOD. The quality bar is extreme — game audio directors have trained ears and zero tolerance for artifacts. Generated sounds need to feel designed, not synthetic. You'll work closely with audio professionals who define quality standards and with the ML team who builds the generation models.

Responsibilities

  • Build automation pipelines for procedural sound variation generation
  • Analyze spectral characteristics of reference audio samples
  • Design parametric variation systems producing believable audio variants
  • Integrate generated outputs with game audio middleware formats
  • Collaborate with audio directors on quality standards and artifact detection

Requirements

  • 3+ years in audio engineering or audio ML development
  • Strong Python and PyTorch skills for audio processing
  • Understanding of spectral analysis and audio signal processing
  • Experience with audio middleware or game development pipelines
  • Ear for audio quality and artifact detection
