About the role

Music licensing for film, TV, and advertising is a $5 billion market where pricing is opaque and negotiation is slow. A 30-second sync license for a popular song in a TV commercial might cost $50,000 or $500,000 depending on factors nobody publishes — artist popularity, exclusivity terms, media spend, territory, and the mood of the rights holder. This 8-month contract focuses on building the pricing intelligence layer: analyzing historical licensing deals to model fair market value, predicting negotiation outcomes based on deal characteristics, and scoring catalog songs by licensing revenue potential across different media contexts. Music licensing data is extremely fragmented — deal terms are confidential, published rates are aspirational, and pricing norms vary by genre, territory, and use case. You'll build pricing models from incomplete data, using Bayesian approaches to estimate fair values when only partial information is available.

Responsibilities

  • Model fair market value for music sync licenses from historical deal data
  • Predict negotiation outcomes based on deal characteristics and party profiles
  • Score catalog songs by licensing revenue potential across media contexts
  • Build pricing intelligence dashboards for licensing negotiation teams
  • Handle incomplete and confidential deal data with Bayesian estimation approaches

Requirements

  • 3+ years in pricing analytics, licensing, or entertainment industry data science
  • Strong Python and scikit-learn skills for pricing models
  • Statistical expertise for estimation under data uncertainty
  • SQL proficiency for deal database analysis
