AI Supply Chain Emissions Tracing Developer

Chloe Schneider

Full-time · Job · London

About the role

Scope 3 emissions — the indirect emissions in a company's value chain — account for 70% of most companies' carbon footprints. They're also the hardest to measure: they require tracing emissions through multiple tiers of suppliers who may have poor data, use different reporting standards, or have no emissions data at all. The gap between a company's Scope 3 target and their ability to actually trace and reduce Scope 3 emissions is where most corporate climate commitments fail. We provide sustainability data infrastructure for 60 enterprises and 8 financial institutions doing portfolio emissions accounting. Supply chain emissions tracing — building models that infer missing supplier emissions from available proxy signals when primary data doesn't exist — is our most technically complex challenge and highest-value capability gap. You'll design the emissions inference and tracing system: combining disclosed supplier emissions data, production volume signals, industry-level emission factors, and energy mix by geography to build probabilistic emissions estimates for Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers. The models need to produce credible confidence intervals that disclosure frameworks like TCFD and CSRD can reference, and the audit trail needs to be transparent enough for financial institution clients who'll have their Scope 3 numbers reviewed by external assurers.

Responsibilities

  • Design probabilistic emissions inference models for suppliers with incomplete disclosure data
  • Integrate disclosed data, production proxies, industry emission factors, and geographic energy mix
  • Build Tier 2 and Tier 3 supplier emissions estimation with traceable confidence intervals
  • Implement audit trail architecture satisfying TCFD and CSRD disclosure transparency requirements
  • Create supplier data quality scoring indicating reliability of emissions estimates per supplier
  • Validate emissions models against disclosed data from suppliers who later provided primary figures

Requirements

  • 6+ years in sustainability data science, ESG analytics, or supply chain analytics
  • Strong Python, SQL, and statistical modeling skills
  • Understanding of Scope 1/2/3 emissions accounting frameworks and supply chain carbon tracing
  • Experience building probabilistic models with calibrated uncertainty for regulatory use
  • Familiarity with TCFD, CSRD, GHG Protocol, or similar disclosure and accounting standards

Benefits

  • Fully remote across UK/EU time zones
  • Top-of-market compensation for sustainability analytics expertise
  • 30 days PTO plus bank holidays
  • Private health insurance
  • Equity participation
