About the role

City planners make billion-dollar infrastructure decisions based on traffic studies that count cars at intersections for 48 hours. Our platform provides continuous mobility intelligence — foot traffic patterns, transit ridership trends, vehicle flow analysis — synthesized from anonymized location data covering 30 million devices across 15 metro areas. As a junior analyst, you'll process and analyze mobility datasets to answer specific client questions: Where should a new bus route go? Which neighborhoods have the most unmet demand for bike-share? How did a road closure affect pedestrian patterns three blocks away? Each analysis produces a report with maps, charts, and recommendations that inform real urban planning decisions. You don't need geospatial experience — we'll teach you the tools. What you need is analytical curiosity and the ability to find patterns in messy spatial data. Your first month is structured training on our data pipeline and visualization tools; by month two, you'll produce your first client deliverable under senior review.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze urban mobility datasets to answer client research questions
  • Build spatial visualizations showing traffic, pedestrian, and transit patterns
  • Process and clean large-scale anonymized location data
  • Prepare client-ready reports with maps, charts, and actionable insights
  • Identify unexpected patterns that suggest infrastructure improvement opportunities
  • Maintain analysis templates and contribute to the methodology knowledge base

Requirements

  • 1+ year of data analysis experience with Python or SQL
  • Comfort working with large datasets and basic statistics
  • Interest in urban planning, transportation, or geography
  • Visualization skills with any charting library or BI tool
  • Clear writing for client-facing reports
