AI Vendor Onboarding Chatbot Developer

About the role

You'll be the second automation engineer on a team of five, working directly with the process mining lead who designed our existing workflow architecture. Vendor onboarding is currently a 12-step manual process split across three departments, and we want to compress it into a guided conversation. The chatbot you build will pull from our internal knowledge base using retrieval-augmented generation, ask vendors for missing documents, and route edge cases to a human reviewer automatically. It plugs into our existing FastAPI services rather than replacing them. This is a contract engagement with a defined scope: a working prototype in eight weeks, then a production rollout phase if the pilot succeeds.

Responsibilities

  • Build a RAG-based conversational flow for vendor onboarding
  • Integrate the chatbot with existing FastAPI internal services
  • Design escalation logic for cases the bot can't resolve
  • Work with the process mining lead to map the current manual workflow

Requirements

  • 3+ years building LLM-powered automation tools
  • Hands-on experience with LangChain and the OpenAI API
  • Comfortable working within a fixed-scope contract engagement
  • Experience with FastAPI or a similar Python web framework
