About the role

Retail stores generate thousands of hours of security footage every day, and 99.9% of it is never watched. Our platform turns that footage into actionable data — customer traffic patterns, queue lengths, shelf interaction heatmaps, and theft detection — all processed in real-time at the edge. This is a 12-month contract to help us expand our analytics capabilities. You'll build new detection models for specific retail scenarios: shopping cart abandonment detection, staff availability monitoring, and promotional display engagement tracking. Each scenario requires its own model architecture, training dataset, and evaluation metrics. You'll work independently with weekly check-ins. The infrastructure is in place — you'll focus purely on model development, evaluation, and integration into our existing serving pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Build computer vision models for retail-specific analytics scenarios
  • Design and curate training datasets for each detection use case
  • Develop evaluation benchmarks tailored to retail analytics accuracy
  • Integrate new models into the existing edge serving pipeline
  • Deliver weekly progress reports with quantitative results

Requirements

  • 3+ years in computer vision with object detection experience
  • Strong PyTorch skills for training and evaluating detection models
  • Experience with video processing and temporal analysis
  • Familiarity with edge deployment constraints and model optimization
  • Comfort working independently on contract deliverables
