AI Visual Regression Testing Engineer

About the role

Pixel-diff visual regression catches when something changed. What it doesn't tell you is whether the change matters. A layout shift of 2px on a desktop breakpoint that nobody ever uses generates the same alert as a button that disappeared on mobile. Our clients — web agencies and SaaS companies — spend more time triaging false positives from their visual regression suite than actually fixing real UI regressions. We're building a smarter visual regression system that uses computer vision to understand what changed and classify whether it matters. A text overflow in the hero section on Chrome/iOS at 375px width matters. A 1px font rendering difference between operating systems doesn't. Encoding that distinction requires semantic understanding of UI components, not just pixel comparison. You'll build the visual intelligence layer: training models that detect and classify UI changes by type and severity, building the triaging interface that presents findings ranked by impact, and developing the feedback loop that learns from user triage decisions to improve future classifications.

Responsibilities

  • Build computer vision models that detect and classify UI changes by type and severity
  • Train models to distinguish impactful regressions from irrelevant visual noise
  • Develop a change severity ranking system based on element type and viewport
  • Create an active learning pipeline from user triage feedback
  • Build APIs that integrate with existing CI/CD and testing infrastructure
  • Benchmark classification accuracy against human expert triage decisions

Requirements

  • 3+ years in computer vision or image analysis with production experience
  • Experience with UI or document image analysis
  • Strong Python and PyTorch skills
  • Familiarity with web frontend concepts: responsive design, breakpoints, component hierarchy
  • Ability to define evaluation benchmarks for novel classification problems
