AI Voice Command Accessibility Interface Engineer

About the role

As a fully async team spread across nine time zones, accessibility isn't a checkbox for us — several of our own engineers rely on the tools we build. What we already have is a strong screen reader optimization layer and assistive navigation for web and mobile. What's missing is voice: many of our users with motor impairments have asked for hands-free control of the same navigation flows our screen reader work already supports. Right now that gap forces them back to a mouse or keyboard. Your role is to design the voice command interface that lets users navigate, fill forms, and trigger actions hands-free, built to integrate cleanly with the navigation system our accessibility team has already shipped.

Responsibilities

  • Design a voice command interface for hands-free navigation and form completion
  • Integrate voice controls with the existing assistive navigation system
  • Test extensively with users who have motor impairments
  • Partner with the accessibility team to avoid conflicting interaction patterns
  • Document voice command coverage gaps for future iteration

Requirements

  • Experience building voice or speech-driven interfaces
  • Comfortable with Hugging Face speech models and FastAPI backends
  • Prior exposure to accessibility standards or assistive technology
  • Genuine interest in usability testing with users who have disabilities
