About the role

The models you'll help ship handle normalization for voice queries used by hundreds of thousands of people who speak to our conversational search product instead of typing. Spoken queries are messy — filler words, false starts, mid-sentence corrections — and our current normalization layer misses too many of them, sending garbled queries into downstream intent classification. You'll join a small research-adjacent team that reads papers on disfluency detection and turns findings into a normalization layer that actually improves what real users experience.

Fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Build normalization models for disfluent, spoken-language queries
  • Evaluate normalization quality against real voice query logs
  • Read and adapt relevant NLP research into production components
  • Collaborate with the intent classification team downstream
  • Maintain evaluation benchmarks for query normalization

Requirements

  • Familiarity with NLP techniques for text normalization
  • Experience with Hugging Face and prompt engineering
  • Comfortable working with noisy, real-world transcript data
  • Entry-level candidates with strong fundamentals welcome
