AI Voice Search Ranking Engineer

About the role

As a fully async team, we believe great engineers do their best work without someone watching over their shoulder. Voice queries rank differently than typed ones — they're longer, more conversational, and full of disfluencies our current text-tuned ranker handles poorly. You'll join our search team to build ranking adjustments specifically for voice-originated queries, working under a senior engineer while you get up to speed on our retrieval stack.

Responsibilities

  • Build ranking adjustments tuned for voice-originated query patterns
  • Analyze disfluency and phrasing differences versus typed queries
  • Support senior engineers on rag pipeline experiments
  • Track ranking quality metrics specific to voice search sessions

Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience with python and nlp fundamentals
  • Some exposure to rag or retrieval-based search systems
  • Interest in voice interfaces or conversational search
  • Comfortable working async with a distributed team
