AI Whistleblower Report Triage Analyst

About the role

Whistleblower hotlines generate thousands of reports per year at large corporations — most about parking disputes and cafeteria complaints, but buried in that noise are the reports about fraud, safety violations, and harassment that require immediate investigation. Our AI triage system separates signal from noise, routing critical reports to investigators within hours instead of weeks. The classification challenge is nuanced. A report about a "manager pressuring the team to meet numbers" could be a routine performance concern or a description of accounting fraud. Context, severity signals, and entity relationships all matter. You'll build models that understand these nuances and produce risk scores that compliance officers trust enough to act on. This is a 9-month contract working with our compliance AI team of four. You'll have access to anonymized report datasets from 20 client organizations and will work with a compliance consultant who defines the triage categories and validates model decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Build classification models for whistleblower report severity and category
  • Design features that capture context, entity relationships, and risk signals
  • Create risk scoring calibrated to compliance officer decision thresholds
  • Validate triage accuracy against investigator outcome data
  • Handle sensitive data with appropriate security and privacy controls
  • Document model decisions for audit and regulatory review

Requirements

  • 3+ years in NLP with text classification experience
  • Experience with sensitive or compliance-related data handling
  • Strong Python skills with LangChain or similar LLM frameworks
  • Understanding of precision-recall trade-offs in high-stakes classification
  • Discretion and professionalism for handling sensitive content
