About the role

The ranking problem is old. The data keeps changing anyway. We are hiring an applied scientist who can work on retrieval and ranking models for a marketplace with millions of active listings and all the messiness that implies: cold start, sparse behavior, feedback loops, and constant pressure from commercial teams.

Responsibilities

  • Improve ranking quality for buyer intent and marketplace health
  • Design offline and online evaluation strategies for search changes
  • Partner with product and analytics on relevance goals
  • Investigate regressions quickly when metrics move unexpectedly
  • Contribute to feature design and retrieval-aware modelling choices

Requirements

  • 5+ years in applied ML or search relevance
  • Python for model development
  • PyTorch for deep ranking or representation models
  • SQL for feature analysis and offline evaluation
  • Pandas for experiment preparation and investigation
  • Statistics for A/B testing and metric interpretation
