Computer Vision Engineer - Fleet Safety Cameras

Noah Sinclair

Full-time · Mid-level · Chicago

About the role

Our customers run trucks, not prototypes. They want fewer collisions, fewer false alerts, and hardware that behaves on bad roads and worse weather. This role is about improving driver-facing safety models under constraints that are very real and not especially glamorous.

Responsibilities

  • Improve detection and event classification for in-cab and road-facing cameras
  • Analyse false positives caused by vibration, rain, glare, and night conditions
  • Work with edge and firmware teams on deployment constraints
  • Design evaluation metrics that reflect actual fleet safety outcomes
  • Support data prioritisation for new incident patterns

Requirements

  • 4+ years in computer vision engineering
  • Python for training and analysis
  • PyTorch for production CV model workflows
  • Computer Vision experience with detection or event classification
  • NumPy for dataset inspection and profiling
  • Scikit-learn for baseline analysis and comparison tooling

Benefits

  • $124,000 - $148,000 base salary
  • Remote in the US with quarterly onsite visits
  • Equity grant
  • Equipment and internet stipend
  • A clear link between model quality and customer trust
