About the role

Most AI products have a UX problem, not a model problem. The underlying LLM is fine — it's the interface, the prompting strategy, and the error handling that make users either love it or close the tab. We build AI-powered writing tools for professional copywriters, and we need a product designer who understands both design thinking and generative AI. You'll own the product experience for our AI co-writing features: how the AI suggests, how users accept or modify suggestions, how confidence is communicated, and how failures are handled gracefully. You'll prototype interaction patterns, write the prompts behind them, and test with real users weekly. This isn't a traditional design role. You need to understand prompt engineering well enough to prototype AI behaviors, not just wireframes. If you've designed AI-powered features before and you know the difference between helpful AI and annoying AI, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Design interaction patterns for AI co-writing features
  • Prototype AI behaviors using prompt engineering and user testing
  • Define how confidence, uncertainty, and errors are communicated to users
  • Conduct weekly user research sessions with professional copywriters
  • Partner with engineering to translate designs into production features

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product design with experience on AI-powered features
  • Understanding of prompt engineering and LLM behavior
  • Ability to prototype AI interactions, not just static wireframes
  • User research skills with a track record of insight-driven design
  • Portfolio demonstrating AI product design work
