About the role

Have you ever looked at a satellite image and wondered how much of it is actually ground? For us that question decides whether a crop-health or deforestation alert is real. Clouds, haze and cloud shadows confuse every downstream model we run, so we maintain our own masking models across Sentinel-2 and commercial imagery. You'll join a remote-sensing team of nine and focus on improving those masks: reviewing failure cases, labelling tricky scenes, running training jobs and measuring how much each change helps the alerts built on top. It's an entry-level role with real scope, and you'll present your findings to the wider team every month.

Fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Review cloud and shadow mask failures and categorize them by cause
  • Label edge-case scenes such as snow, bright desert and thin cirrus
  • Retrain and evaluate masking models with guidance from senior engineers
  • Track how mask quality affects downstream alert precision

Requirements

  • Comfortable with Python and NumPy for image array work
  • Some exposure to TensorFlow or another deep learning framework
  • Interest in satellite imagery, geography or earth observation
  • Patient, detail-oriented approach to labelling and evaluation
