Junior AI Deployment Runbook Automation Developer

About the role

You'd be the newest of six people on our release engineering squad, and you'd pair with a senior engineer for your first two months. Yalvex AI runs deployment tooling for teams that ship machine learning models several times a day. Many of the steps around those releases still live in wiki runbooks: drain a node, warm a cache, verify a metric, page someone if it drifts. We want those runbooks turned into small, tested automations that an LLM-assisted assistant can suggest and an engineer can approve with one click. You'll write Python, learn our Kubernetes setup, and gradually take ownership of a growing library of runbook actions. We run two-week sprints with a clear backlog, so you'll always know what matters this week.

Responsibilities

  • Convert written deployment runbooks into versioned, tested Python automations
  • You'll spend most of your time writing small, well-scoped tools and the tests around them
  • Add dry-run modes and safety checks so every action can be previewed before it runs
  • Document each automation so on-call engineers trust it at 3 a.m.

Requirements

  • Comfortable writing clean Python and using Git day to day
  • Basic understanding of containers and how Kubernetes schedules workloads
  • Curiosity about how production systems fail and recover
  • A computer science degree, bootcamp or equivalent self-taught projects
