Junior AI Dyslexia-Friendly Content Formatter

Bella Sharma

Freelance · Job · London

About the role

Dyslexia affects 10-20% of the population and is the most common reading disability. Content formatted for typical readers — dense paragraphs, complex sentence structures, inconsistent font sizing, and low whitespace — is significantly harder to process for dyslexic readers. Dyslexia-friendly formatting guidelines are well established: shorter sentences, left-aligned text, increased line spacing, specific font recommendations, and avoiding text justification. Applying these guidelines consistently to large content volumes is where automation adds value. This is a freelance role — 15-20 hours per week. We build accessibility tooling for 60 publishers and content platforms. Dyslexia-friendly content formatting is a new feature we're adding as part of an accessibility enhancement initiative. Users will opt into dyslexia-friendly display; when they do, content should be reformatted on-the-fly according to the guidelines without losing meaning or structure. As a junior developer, you'll build the content reformatting pipeline: applying sentence simplification, layout transformation, and structural modifications to content returned by our content API. Senior accessibility specialists define the formatting rules; you build the pipeline that executes them reliably and efficiently at content delivery scale.
