Junior AI Foley Sound Matching Assistant

About the role

Have you ever wondered how a footstep sound gets matched to the exact frame an actor's foot hits the ground, across thousands of hours of footage? That's the problem this contract role tackles. You will help build a model that analyzes video frames to recommend matching foley sound effects from our library, cutting manual search time for sound designers on tight post-production deadlines. You'll work under a senior audio ML engineer who has shipped similar tooling before, on a three-month contract with room to extend if the fit is right.

Responsibilities

  • Help build a model matching video frame content to relevant foley sound effect candidates
  • Support evaluation of model recommendations against sound designer preferences
  • Assist with building the training dataset from tagged historical foley libraries
  • Document model limitations for the sound design team using the tool
  • Pair with a senior audio ML engineer on model architecture decisions

Requirements

  • Some experience with PyTorch or computer vision projects, coursework welcome
  • Interest in audio or media production technology
  • Comfortable working with large unstructured media datasets
  • Eagerness to learn from a senior mentor
