About the role

Our clients in insurance and public services still receive thousands of handwritten forms each week. Our document automation platform handles typed forms with high accuracy. Handwriting is where it falls short: checkboxes ticked outside the box, dates in three formats, names written across field borders. This contract role supports the team improving handwritten field extraction. You'll review error samples, prepare training data, run evaluation scripts and help test a new model behind an internal FastAPI service. Reliability and auditability matter to our clients, so careful work matters more than speed.

Fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Review handwritten extraction errors and group them by root cause
  • Prepare and validate labelled training samples for field-level models
  • Run evaluation scripts and report accuracy per field type
  • Help test the extraction API before each client release

Requirements

  • Basic Python skills and willingness to learn PyTorch
  • Strong attention to detail with document data
  • Interest in computer vision or document AI
  • Available for a six-month contract at 40 hours per week
