Junior AI Invoice Matching Automation Developer

About the role

We already extract line items from supplier invoices with decent accuracy. What's missing is the next step: matching those lines to purchase orders and goods receipts when quantities, units and descriptions don't line up perfectly. Accounts payable teams at our customers still clear thousands of exceptions by hand each month. Your role is to build and test the matching logic, combining deterministic rules with LLM-based description matching, under guidance from our procurement engineering lead. The first four months are a paid contract, with conversion to full-time expected.

Responsibilities

  • Build three-way matching logic between invoices, purchase orders and receipts
  • Use LLM calls to match free-text line descriptions where rules fall short
  • Measure auto-match rate and false matches on anonymized customer samples
  • Document every rule so finance users can understand why a match was made

Requirements

  • Python and SQL fundamentals, ideally from a first job or internship
  • Interest in finance operations or accounting workflows
  • Some hands-on time with an LLM API, even in side projects
  • Careful, test-first mindset
