Junior AI Model Card Automation Developer

About the role

Model cards are to AI what package inserts are to drugs — mandatory documentation that most practitioners skip because creating them manually takes hours and the templates are designed for academics, not practitioners. We help enterprises automate model card generation as part of their AI governance workflows, and the automation pipeline needs a junior developer to extend it. This is a part-time freelance engagement, 20 hours per week. You'll build new data extraction connectors for model training metadata, improve the template rendering system that converts raw metadata into readable prose, and add support for the EU AI Act documentation requirements that enterprises are now scrambling to meet. The senior engineer who designed the system will review your work and help you navigate the codebase. Responsibilities

  • Build data extraction connectors for model training metadata from MLflow and W&B
  • Improve template rendering system for human-readable model card prose generation
  • Add EU AI Act documentation requirement support to the generation pipeline
  • Implement version tracking for model card updates across model lifecycle events
  • Write tests for new connectors and template rendering logic
  • Document new connector APIs for users of the system

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development experience
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs and JSON data formats
  • Interest in responsible AI, AI governance, or documentation automation
  • Comfort working independently with clear specifications
  • Good written communication for documentation
